Raising a Generation That Leads and Speaks Up

In a time when silence often feels safer than standing up, a bold group of young Zimbabweans gathered in Mutare for the recent Speak Zimbabwe program, facilitated by US exchange alumni. The theme—Leadership and Civic Engagement—was a powerful reminder that the future of Zimbabwe depends on young voices rising with courage, clarity, and conviction.

The program brought together passionate youth from different backgrounds, all eager to learn how they can make a difference in their communities and country. Through interactive workshops, dialogues, and team activities, participants were not only encouraged to speak up, but also equipped with practical tools to engage in civic processes and take up leadership roles.

It wasn’t just talk—it was action. Young people left the event with a renewed understanding of their rights, responsibilities, and the power of active citizenship. They explored what it means to influence policy, mobilize communities, and lead change from where they are. They discovered that leadership isn’t about having a title—it’s about using your voice for impact.

Speak Zimbabwe planted seeds of courage in every participant. Seeds that will grow into confident leaders, engaged citizens, and advocates for good governance and social progress. As Next Leaders, we believe that the strength of a nation is found in the boldness of its youth.

To every young Zimbabwean reading this: your voice matters. Your ideas matter. And your leadership is needed now more than ever.

Step up. Speak up. Lead forward
